Clueless Disciples..... Clueless US!

I have to share the Gospel reading for today from the Regnum Christi website.

John 14:7-14
Jesus said to his disciples: "If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ´Show us the Father´? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

It struck me as comical when i read it this morning.  Jesus is like "Seriously!!  You people are SO CLUELESS!!  I've been with you all this time and still you don't get it.  I am GOD.  We are one in the same.  If you want to get to the Father, you need to get to know me!"

Sometimes I'm one of those clueless disciples, and I'm thankful for these times Jesus spells it out for us :).

God Bless,
Heather

Let's Try this again!!

My poor little family blog has been sitting idle for 2 and a half years!  SO let's see if I can get it going again!!

Here's what's up with us:

Schools almost out!  Jason is finishing his freshman year of high school.  He doesn't like school, but he makes really good grades.  I think he has above a 4.0 GPA!!  Meagan's about to finish 6th grade.  Where does the time go??  Good luck to my two kiddos this week on final exams!!

Brett and I went on the KLove cruise in February.  AWESOME!!  I'd been drooling over the thought of going on the KLove cruise for at least 4 years.  We saw Matthew West, TobyMac, Francesca Battesteli, Sanctus Real, Blue Tree, and Sidewalk Profits.  Well worth the money!!  Maybe we can do it again in 5 years :).

Jason attended driving school during the Easter holidays.  (He's 15!!!)  He passed the written part.  Now we're ready to schedule the driving portion.  Go Jason!

Meagan has done competitive cheer for the last two years.  She's decided to take a break from that and probably go back to soccer this year.  She's trying out for the local tournament soccer team.  If she doesn't get on that team, we may start up a middle school girls' soccer team at her school.  Also, she's playing softball for the first time this spring.  She's improved a lot; but she says it's not her sport :).

Brett had his back surgery two years ago.  He was virtually pain free for almost two years.  Unfortunately, he over worked it on the job during the holidays this past year.  So, he's struggling with back pain, shots, and numbness in his leg.  Say a prayer of healing for him.  Of course, he's still working as hard as ever at Community Coffee.  Rest??  Relax??  Come on, this is Brett we're talking about.  He has built a FABULOUS koi pond behind the house.  I'll post pictures.  He loves taking care of his fish and his pond.

ME - I'm still working at Amedisys.  I've been on medical leave for the last 3 weeks because I had a hysterectomy.  Recovering quite well :).  I'm actually going to start working from home tomorrow, and then back to the office next week.  I've watched a lot of TLC, HGTV, and Food Network over the last three weeks!!

Pretty Bunny - our rabbit, Pretty, died a few months ago.  I think she may have been 10 years old!!  She was a gorgeous rabbit. But mom has declared there will be NO MORE caged animals at the Luquette residence.  Dogs and fish are enough.

Lucky - our dog lucky..... where do I start?  He is just a silly little dog who loves his daddy.  When his daddy's home, Lucky follows him around.  Otherwise, he's napping on the couch, probably under the covers.

That's it!  That's our update.  Take care, and keep in touch.

Love
Heather

What Obama stands for

This letter pretty much speaks for itself.

I actually heard on the radio a few months ago that one state (maybe Colorado?) was considering giving Transgenders the right to go into either male or female public restrooms, depending on what gender they felt they were that day. Perhaps Mr. Obama would like to implement that nation-wide??

Marriage, family, and TRUTH in general, are under attack. Don’t give up and don’t stay silent!

Tootie Dog - our spotted girl

Our oldest dog (our first child), Tootie died yesterday. She was 15 years old!! We think she had a stroke Thursday night, which left her blind and somehow messed up her stomach. She died Friday morning.

We will miss her so much. I will look for pictures of Tootie to post here.

Community Coffee!!

http://communitycoffee.com

The only coffee you should ever drink!! Notice the Military 2 for 1 special for friends and family serving over seas.

Summer is almost over - :(

Well I started a post sometime last month and never finished. Now, summer' about over. Our kids go to school Friday morning for meet and greet and dropping off school supplies. They start school next Monday. Meagan's ready but Jason's not.

We didn't really take a vacation this summer, but we're probably going to Disney in November (yay!!) in conjunction with a two day seminar I just happened to find in Orlando.

Glo and MJ (my parents) celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in June. Our gift to them was family pictures, which we just did last weekend. Hope they come out good!

My grandmaw, MawMaw Rose turned 88 (I think) a few weeks ago!! She celebrated with lunch at Mike Anderson's with her daughters and sons-in-law.

Jason's still doing Karate and Meagan's going back to Karate. Also, soccer is starting soon. We will be quite busy. Oh! Jason is the VP of Student Council this year.... GO Jason!

I saw Mama Mia the other day. What a silly movie! Go see it with the girls and save your husband the torture.

Going with my sister to listen to Immaculee Ilibagiza speak in a few weeks at LSU assembly Center. Can't wait! You should read her book, Left to Tell. Not exactly fun and games, but really eye opening.

What is up with you??

New House, New Job, New York.....

Well, I'm finally back!  I'm trying this blogging thing again.  I downloaded Windows Live Writer which helps create and publish your blogs.  We'll see.

Here's what's new with us:

  • bought a new house in December.  It's bigger, and we're enjoying it.  But we haven't completely unpacked or hung pictures or anything.
  • Old house isn't sold yet, but we do have a purchase agreement.  The agreement is contingent on the sale of the purchaser's current house.  Say a prayer for us that we'll finish off the school year with just one house.  We really only need one.
  • After 11 years as a route salesman with Community Coffee, Brett's getting a new position. He'll be over the ordering, filling, shipping out of internet and eventually wholesale orders.  We are very excited!  His back cannot handle another year on the coffee truck.  Praise GOD!
  • I'm going to New York for work!  My first time!  We will be working about 45 minutes from NYC, so I don't know how much of it I'll actually get to see.
  • Jason and Meagan have enjoyed their new school this year.  Their grades are great, and they've made friends.  We've enjoyed meeting the other parents.
  • Tootie is almost 15 years old!!  SHe's hanging in there.  She moves slow and sleeps alot (always has).  She rarely ever barks anymore, she says it's just a waste of energy.
  • Lucky, the new pup is cute, but kinda bad.  He aggravates Tootie, and he likes to chew up things.
  • Kids are growing like you would not believe!!
  • Jason's a Green Belt Senior in Choi Kuan Do
  • Meagan's a little soccer star.
  • We just joined the YMCA.  First time I exercised in a year!

So, what's happening with you??

Welcome to 2008. Hope you had a joyous Christmas and wishing you a blessed New Year!

Thinking about New Year's resolutions but haven't decided on any yet.

What we've been up to

Hi there! We're busy as ever, how about you?

Here's what we've been up to:
Jason- He likes his new school and the kids and the teachers, thank goodness!! He thought he wanted to be in band. Tried the saxophone for a few weeks but quickly figured out that it'd be way too much work, and it was getting in the way of his free time. He still enjoys Karate, although it's hard to fit it into the schedule now that school's started. He says he wants to play soccer again, maybe next year at school. He still asks lots of questions and starts many sentences with "what if...." And, he LOVES his mommy!

Meagan-She too likes the new school and is making new friends. She also joined band and tried the flute. She lasted 4 weeks. She may decide to try again in a few years, but she's still young and she wants to do a little bit of everything. She loves soccer. She did Karate for a while, but I think she's getting tired of it. She still talks about going back to gym or cheer. Most of all, she likes her music and watching Disney Channel.

Brett- just got the second shot in his back to "burn" the nerves, although it's not really burning them b/c it's not permanent. We hope this does the trick, but he'll be sore for a few days now. He still coaches Meagan's soccer team as well as referee soccer. He never even played soccer as a kid, and now he knows everything about it!

Heather- I went on an awesome silent retreat last weekend from Thursday night to Sunday. Refreshing! I received many graces during that silent time. Besides that, it's just work, chauffer, wash clothes, sleep. Exciting, huh? I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Did you know we got a puppy? He's a "chaweenie". His name is Lucky aka Taco Bell dog. He's cute... good thing he's got that going for him! 'Cause he's getting to be an aggrevating little animal. Tootie''s still hanging in there... she's 14 years old! She eats, sleeps and poops. And she was not at all amused when we brought home Lucky. She's still not happy about it. What were we thinking, anyway??

OH! Kids have International Bazaar in a few weeks at School. Meagan needs things from Japan for her project, as well as an outfit. If you have something, please call me. Jason's class is doing Brazil. He's got to do some research on the religion, but I don't think he actually has to do a project on his own. Anway, let us know if you have something you'd be willing for them to use.

It's finally gotten down to the 60's here! So nice. And you know, Christmas will be here before you know it.

Take care
The Luquette's

Praying the Rosary

Meagan told me she prayed two decades of the rosary today! "One this morning and one at the prayer table in class". That was right after she asked if I'd pray the Angelus with her.

Who would've imagined??

Cruise Pictures

Cruise Pictures

Cruise Pictures

Cruise Pictures

We had a great time on the Carnival Fantasy in July. Mrs. Nelda (Brett's mom) and Cydney (niece) came with us. It was a five day cruise. The kids wanted to know at the end, "what's the longest cruise we can take next time?"

Heather's 20 Year Class Reunion

Brett and I had a blast at the STA Class of '87 reunion! My friend Ashlee came with us since she gave her hubby permission to stay home.

Now, when a few people hugged us and told us "hello" when we got out of the car, I thought "This is going to be a long night..... I have no idea who that was!" WOW! Some people changed so much and a few haven't changed at all. Naturally, I had to look at name tags many times.

I realize how fortunate we are to have the internet and email to keep in touch now. There's really no excuse for not keeping in touch.

20YEARS!!! It still hasn't quite sunk in.

We ended the night at a small, I mean really small, daquiri shop nearby. I graduated with some wild people!! But I'm too old for that scene now. In the midst of the crowd, the LOUD music and the smoke, I realized I had a real comfy bed waiting for me at home. And Brett didn't argue with me.

I don't think I'd want to do it all over again (HighSchool), but if I did I think I'd have way more fun!

New "Do"

I got a new hairdo today! Cut and colored/highlighted. Not too drastic, but a big change since I hadn't had a cut in a few months. I like it! Just in time for my reunion next weekend (thought it was this weekend, but I had it on the wrong date on my calendar). Maybe I'll post a picture; but not now. No makeup right now :).
